Summary:We studied HBV infection in 34 HIV-2-infected patients followed-up in Marseilles. Ten (29%) patients were chronically-infected with HBV, which represents a three-times higher rate than in HIV-1-infected patients in Europe. HBV occult infection was diagnosed in two patients. HBV genotype E was found in seven patients; its specificities and the reciprocal influence of HIV-2/HBV-co-infection remain to be evaluated.
