Summary:The wind characteristics of a region have to be evaluated sensitively to benefit from the wind potential. For this aim, the wind potential in the Kutahya-Bunelek hill region has been determined using several statistical methods with the observed data of 36 months, in this study. In the statistical analysis, parameter estimation procedure is applied for Weibull, Gamma, and Lognormal probability density functions via maximum likelihood method, least squares method, and robust asymmetric distribution parameter estimation techniques. In conclusion, it is determined that the robust asymmetrical distribution parameter estimation technique is the suitable technique for the observed data. Also, it is shown that Lognormal distribution is more suitable for the wind speed data than that of Weibull and Gamma.
