As the main driving force behind socio-economic development and the advancement of civilization and hu- man society, engineering science and technology is shouldering the sacred mission of addressing challenges, ful- filling dreams, and shaping the future. Looking back into the past, humans have invented a host of outstanding en- gineering technologies and built a great many miraculous projects. The constant advancement of engineering science and technology has enabled us to respond to many extreme challenges posed by mother nature, significantly improved human working and living conditions, and tremendously enriched our mate- rial and spiritual wealth, helping us live longer, healthier, and happier lives, as well as making our daily lives more convenient.
