Summary:An organic single crystal, 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium trifluoroacetate was grown by slow evaporation solution technique at room temperature. The structure of the grown crystal was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. FTIR spectral analysis was carried out to identify the various functional groups present in the crystal. The different types of protons and carbons in the grown crystal were identified by the NMR spectral analysis. Optical property was determined by UV–vis–NIR spectral analysis. Photoconductivity studies were carried out for various applied voltages on the grown crystal. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss, and the ac conductivity of the grown crystals were studied. TG-DTA studies were carried out to investigate the thermal properties of the grown crystal. The mechanical stability of the crystal was studied using Vickers’ microhardness measurements.
