Summary:The current situation in the geometrical product specification (GPS) is presented. Available new tools for specification of dimensions and geometrical tolerances are discussed. Special attention is brought to possibilities of unambiguous specification of sizes introduced by modifiers LP, GG, GX, GN, GC, SCS, ACS, ALS, SX, SN, SA, SM, SD, SR, SQ. Preliminary analysis of available software for the possibilities in evaluation of measurement results with application of so called perfect verification operator was carried out on the example of “Calypso” software. It was pointed out that problems in geometrical product specification and verification are common for all players of the product development process (design, manufacturing, and inspection/verification). Attention is also drawn to the need for training. Information on the EU founded project on this subject is given.
