Phase equilibria in the Al-rich region of the Al–Ni–Re alloy system

Summary:Partial isothermal sections at 700, 800, 870 and 1030 °C are presented for the Al–Al 3Ni 2–Al 4Re compositional range. The maximal solubility of Ni in the Al 11Re 4 phase was found to be ∼6 at.%, in h-Al 4Re ∼4.5 at.% and in l-Al 4Re at least 1.5 at.%, in Al 12Re and Al 6Re around 1.0 at.%, while the solubility of Re in Al 3Ni and Al 3Ni 2 was below 0.5 at.%. The only ternary orthorhombic phase is formed in a small compositional range around Al 73.5Ni 18.5Re 8.
