On the treatment of sharp corners in the FEM analysis of high frequency problems

Summary:A treatment of sharp metal corners is presented by a nodal finite element method in which the usual nodal shape functions are combined with edge shape functions in the vicinity of the sharp corner or on the whole boundary. The magnetic vector potential together with the electric scalar potential is used and the spurious modes are suppressed by enforcing the source-free condition implicitly. Examples are presented to test and illustrate the method.< >
