Modified Ćuk converter for high-performance power factor correction applications

This paper presents a modified Ćuk (m-Ćuk) converter to reduce the total harmonic distortion in single-stage power factor correction AC–DC circuits. This modification allows the converter to operate in continuous conduction mode even in the zero-crossing area avoiding distortion in its vicinity. The...

Summary:This paper presents a modified Ćuk (m-Ćuk) converter to reduce the total harmonic distortion in single-stage power factor correction AC–DC circuits. This modification allows the converter to operate in continuous conduction mode even in the zero-crossing area avoiding distortion in its vicinity. The proposed converter is analysed, designed and implemented. The simulation results and experimental measurements verify the feasibility of the proposed m-Ćuk converter.
