Summary:An electrochemical method has been developed for the efficient conversion of carbon dioxide to peroxycarbonate on a boron-doped diamond electrode under mild conditions. The process could be carried out in a batch operation as well as in a flow-system operation. The current efficiency for producing peroxycarbonate decreased significantly with increasing the temperature. A current efficiency of ca. 70% can be achieved in a two-chamber cell with a separator at 5 °C.
