Summary:Data on the applications of membrane catalysis in the dehydrogenation of organic compounds and hydrogen production are analyzed and generalized. It is shown that the integration of membrane reactors into existing plants is necessary for production of hydrogen of high purity. The steam reforming and oxidative reforming of methane and steam reforming of light alcohols seem to be the most promising processes for hydrogen production in membrane reactors. The bibliography includes 165 references.
