Ligand addition to [Cp∧ RuCl] 4—molecular structure of [Cp∧ Ru(C 2H 4)Cl] 2
[Cp∧ RuCl] 4 ( 1a) (Cp∧ = η 5-C 5Me 4Et) reacts with pyridine or ethylene by trans addition and cleavage to yield the dimers [Cp∧ RuL(Cl)] 2. The pyridine adduct has been oxidized to the known mixed valence complex [(Cp∧ Ru(py)) 2(μ-Cl) 2]X.
