Summary:This paper describes a finite element method for the calculation of the forging die temperature during the non steady-state forging process. At each time step, an iterative coupling between workpiece and dies is performed. Then, a fast algorithm for the simulation of the thermal stationary regime for the tools is described. Generally, this regime is reached after a large number of forging operations. Finally, these methods are applied to a backward extrusion problem.
