COMBINED MARANGONI AND NATURAL CONVECTION IN INFINITE HORIZONTAL LAYER OF NON-NEWTONIAN POWER LAW FLUIDS

A theoretical investigation is presented for thermogravitational and thermocapillary flows of a non-Newtonian power law fluid confined in an infinite rectangular horizontal cavity with the upper surface free and the lower one rigid and subjected to a horizontal constant temperature gradient. The equ...

Summary:A theoretical investigation is presented for thermogravitational and thermocapillary flows of a non-Newtonian power law fluid confined in an infinite rectangular horizontal cavity with the upper surface free and the lower one rigid and subjected to a horizontal constant temperature gradient. The equations governing the velocity and temperature fields and the resulting heat transfer rates across the layer width are established, and the effect of the non-Newtonian behavior of the fluid on these quantities is studied.
