Elastic neutron scattering study of high order satellites in the incommensurate phase of bis(4-chlorophenyl)sulfone

The structural aspect of the incommensurate phase of bis(4-chlorophenyl)sulfone has been studied by elastic neutron scattering. The study of the first-order satellites confirms that the phase is incommensurate down to the lowest temperatures. Moreover, satellites up to the fourth order are observed....

Summary:The structural aspect of the incommensurate phase of bis(4-chlorophenyl)sulfone has been studied by elastic neutron scattering. The study of the first-order satellites confirms that the phase is incommensurate down to the lowest temperatures. Moreover, satellites up to the fourth order are observed. Their analysis indicates that the modulation wave evolutes towards a non-sinusoidal regime in decreasing temperature.
