Effect of gas sparger type on operational characteristics of a bubble column under mechanical foam control

Spargers used were nozzles of 2 different sizes, a perforated plate, and a porous sintered glass bead filter used alone or with the perforated plate. The effects of gas sparger type on the foam breaking, foaming, flow and mass transfer characteristics of the bubble column were investigated. The valu...

Summary:Spargers used were nozzles of 2 different sizes, a perforated plate, and a porous sintered glass bead filter used alone or with the perforated plate. The effects of gas sparger type on the foam breaking, foaming, flow and mass transfer characteristics of the bubble column were investigated. The values of mass transfer using the spargers were further considered in terms of the specific power output of the mechanical rotating disc foam breaker.
