Summary:High‐performance composite foams of carbon nanofiber‐reinforced poly(ether ether ketone) have been produced for the first time (see Figure). The nanofibers perform two roles: optimization of the rheological properties of the polymer melt to allow foaming and improvement of the mechanical properties of the polymer. This unique performance combination is likely to be relevant to a variety of matrices, particularly semicrystalline thermoplastics.
