Use of prostaglandins in nurse-midwifery practice

Prostaglandin E 2 (PGE 2) is known to induce structural changes in the uterine cervix that produce thinning, softening, and eventually dilatation. In this paper, three certified nurse-midwives share their clinical experiences in using prostaglandin gel as a stimulus for labor.
