Summary:Two previously undescribed ergosterols containing a highly conjugated ring system, psathrosterols A and B (1 and 2), have been isolated from the fungus Psathyrella rogueiana. Their structures with absolute configurations were established by extensive spectroscopic methods, as well as single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 showed inhibitory activity against NO production with IC 50 values of 22.3 and 16.4 μM, respectively.
