Summary:The ultraviolet (UV) extraordinary optical transmission through nanoslit structures in the far field and the localized field enhancement in the near field are directly observed and compared with each other. Numerical modeling results are also presented, and the distribution properties of the UV Surface Plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are analyzed, showing agreement with the experiment results. These phenomena may enrich the studies on subwavelength optics on a chip and especially be useful for performance optimization of UV active devices, e.g., UV light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and UV detectors.
