Summary:This paper deals with the numerical simulation of 3D heat and moisture transfer in wood. The mathematical model is based on a set of coupled, heat and mass transfer equations proposed by Luikov (1976). Numerous series of calculations were carried out over the range of 0.01 < Lu < 0.1, 2 < Ko < 30, 0.2 < Pn < 2, where Lu, Pn and Ko are the Luikov, Posnov and Kossovitch numbers, respectively. We have also analysed the effect of heat and mass transfer coefficients through the Biot number on heat and moisture transfer. Profiles of average moisture content and temperature have been predicted as a function of time and the governing parameters. It is shown that the governing dimensionless parameters have a considerable influence on the kinetics of the heat and moisture transfer.
