Summary:We describe a new device and technique that allowed for radiographic evaluation of anastomoses before removal of the catheter in 80 patients who had undergone either radical retropubic prostatectomy or urethroplasty. Of these patients 11 showed significant extravasation and required continued catheterization. We advocate this procedure for documentation of complete urethral healing to prevent premature catheter removal.
