Summary:In one case of extrabiliary atresia, reconstruction of the biliary tract was performed by using the appendix. The child, who was 2 years old, is doing well without ascending cholangitis. This operation seems simple and satisfying because it seems to be more anatomic and more physiologic than the standard Kasai operation. Its efficacy in a large number of cases remains to be proven.
