Summary:Additive single and multi Ag layers of the same entire thickness into FePt films were in order to investigate the effects between different distribution of inhomogeneities on microstructure and magnetic performance of the FePt films. The large coercivity enhancement of multi Ag compared to single Ag case is due to the relative uniform impurities or misalignments that caused pinning effects on the interfaces between the Ag and FePt films. The other contributed source is from the reduction of grain/domain size and isolation of FePt nanogranular films that can be achieved by such addition and maintain (001) orientation.
