Summary:In a search for Yersinia infection in Bangladesh, one isolate of Y. enterocolitica serotype 0:3 was obtained from stools of 1,450 children with fever and diarrhea and one of Y. enterocolitica serotype 0:8 was recovered from intestinal contents of 80 fatal diarrheal cases during postmortem examination. These results suggest that Yersinia infection is an infrequent cause of tropical diarrhea.
