The structural instabilities of ferronematic based on liquid crystal with low negative magnetic susceptibility

The Fredericksz transition in ferronematic based on liquid crystal ZLI 1695 (extremely low anisotropy of diamagnetic susceptibility χa = –3 × 10–8) was studied. The decrease of the Fredericksz transition critical magnetic fields BFN with increasing magnetic particles volume concentration was found....

Summary:The Fredericksz transition in ferronematic based on liquid crystal ZLI 1695 (extremely low anisotropy of diamagnetic susceptibility χa = –3 × 10–8) was studied. The decrease of the Fredericksz transition critical magnetic fields BFN with increasing magnetic particles volume concentration was found. The surface density of anchoring energy of liquid crystal molecules on magnetic particles surfaces was experimentally estimated falling into the range (0.3–5.2) × 10–6. These estimations confirm the soft‐anchoring considered within the Burylov and Raikher's theory.
