Summary:The article presents the results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that has been carried out to identify and present the state-of-the-art of ERP systems, describe the obstacles of on-premise ERP systems, and provide general solutions to tackle these challenges. Based on this SLR, 22 obstacles are identified, the dependencies and interactions among these obstacles are described, and finally the corresponding solutions as described in the primary studies are discussed in detail. Our study shows that there is a general agreement on the obstacles of on-premise ERP systems and further research is needed to provide satisfactory solutions to the obstacles.
