Dihydrogen phosphate-containing dinuclear double assemblies that demonstrate phosphate reactivity to the tetrafluoroborate anion

The ligands L1 and L2 both form dinuclear assemblies with Cu( ii ) and these react with dihydrogen phosphate so that the anion is incorporated within the assembly ( e.g. [Cu 2 L 2 (H 2 PO 4 )] 3+ ). However, in the presence of tetrafluoroborate anions the phosphate undergoes reaction with the anion...

However, in the presence of tetrafluoroborate anions the phosphate undergoes reaction with the anion forming [Cu 3 ( L1 ) 3 (O 3 POBF 3 )] 3+ and [Cu 2 ( L2 ) 2 (O 2 P(OBF 3 ) 2 )] + .
