Summary:The whole field of utilisation of sewage sludge for the production of agricultural crops is surveyed. Special attention is given to the development of a long-term strategy for utilisation of sewage sludges as fertilisers for agricultural crops, to the benefits arising from the organic matter, nitrogen, and phosphorus which they contain, to the limiting factors to the use of sewage sludges for this purpose, and to those crops which are most appropriate to use. Consideration is given to the use of sewage sludge in land reclamation.
