Summary:1. The effect of (a) Decis 2–5, (b) ethanolic solution of pure Decamethrin, and (c) the solvent used in Decis 2–5 on juvenile Astyanax (A.) fasciatus fasciatus (Tetragonopteridae, Pisces) in captivity, was studied. 2. The short term tests were carried out under static conditions and the assayed concentrations of active ingredient (in ppm) were: 0.063, 0.125, 0.250, 0.500, 1.000 and 2.000, respectively. 3. Both Decis 2–5 and pure Decamethrin were neurotoxic to fish.
