Summary:A broadband transition from a novel high-isolation quasi-TEM transmission line (TL) to microstrip line is presented. The proposed design exploits a gradual transition to ensure electric field transformation and impedance matching between two types of TLs. The prototype is designed using back-to-back configuration and fabricated. The measurement reveals maximum insertion loss of 1.4 dB and return loss better than 15 dB from 0.5 to 20 GHz.
