An accurate, high-throughput method for genotyping the −373AnTn polymorphism in the interleukin-6 promoter

Summary Interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) is a pro‐inflammatory cytokine implicated in inflammatory diseases. The four promoter polymorphisms (−174G/C, −373AnTn, −572G/C, −597G/A) have been shown to function as a haplotype in determining IL‐6 gene transcription. Using a capillary‐based electrophoresis system, hi...

Summary:Summary Interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) is a pro‐inflammatory cytokine implicated in inflammatory diseases. The four promoter polymorphisms (−174G/C, −373AnTn, −572G/C, −597G/A) have been shown to function as a haplotype in determining IL‐6 gene transcription. Using a capillary‐based electrophoresis system, high‐throughput genotyping for the −373AnTn polymorphism was achieved, thus facilitating IL‐6 promoter haplotype determination.
