Summary:This paper deals with the vibration control of plate structures from the standpoint of noise control where noise control and vibration control of walls are the common subjects. A lumped parameter system modeling method which is effective for the vibration control of plate structures is first shown. Then, from our simulations and experiments, it is shown that good vibration control of plate structures is achieved by attaching the active device and sensors and carrying out vibration control on the basis of the LQ control theory. Finally, it is demonstrated that if this method is used to improve sound transmittance loss, then the noise radiating from the plate structures can be reduced and noise isolation improved.
