Summary: | A novel dynamic model describing the transfer of mass, momentum, and energy has been developed for a continuous Kamyr digester. The model has been developed to improve the understanding of the process, in particular the complex interactions between the vertical motion of the mass and the chemical reactions. An interesting property of the model is its potential ability to predict pulp quality based on the manipulated variables that are used in real plant operation. Hence, it might be used for predictive simulation to aid process operators. The model has been verified by simulating operating conditions of an industrial Kamyr digester. |
