Summary:Random amplified polymorphic DNA markers appeared to identify four quantitative trait loci (QTL) in some soybean cultivars, regions that might impart resistance to manganese toxicity in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) derived from Essex x Forrest. An effort to identify microsatellite markers linked to these QTLs relied in 240 markers and 100 RILs to construct a map. The response of five plants per genotype to Mn was measured, and three genomic regions on different linkage groups were found to contain QTL for resistance to necrosis during Mn toxicity.
