Summary:Lenehan highlights National Workplace Violence Summit on Jun 22, 2012. The attendees included nurses, security officers, administrators, physicians, and others, and they were committed to making a difference, sharing experiences and wisdom, asking questions, and helping to make the conference a great success. Some attendees, like Deb Travis, MN, RN, CEN, CCRN, of Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital's emergency department in New York City, and Kimberly Nwogu, RN, BSN, from Ben Taub General Hospital's emergency department in Houston, came with other staff members from their emergency departments, demonstrating their commitment to this issue and providing time for them to brainstorm together afterward. Attendees described assaults resulting in serious harm, even death. They also discussed barriers to the successful arrest and prosecution of those who assaulted the staff members.
