Leaf Development Takes Shape
The flat shape of most leaves enables them to capture sunlight for photosynthesis more efficiently. McConnell and Barton discuss new work (Nath et al.) that reveals how the differential expression of certain genes within developing leaves of the snapdragon makes these leaves flat.
