Summary: | Part 1 of this work presents a closed analytical solution for mixed-convection film boiling on vertical walls. Heat transfer coefficients predicted by the proposed model and some experimental data are compared. All data predicted are inside the ±10% error band, with mean averaged error being below 4% (using slightly modified analytical solution). The solution obtained is recommended for practical applications. The method presented here is used in Part 2 as a guideline for developing a model for film boiling on spheres. The new semi-empirical film boiling model for spheres used in IVA4 computer code is compared with the experimental data base obtained by Liu and Theofanous. The data are predicted within ±30% error band. |
