Summary: | Summary
The suppressive effect of anti-macrophage serum (AMS) on the serum antibody response to trachoma agent antigens was studied in white Swiss mice. When given on days -1, 0 and +1, the antigen being given on day 0, AMS caused clumping of peritoneal macrophages but not peritoneal lymphocytes or spleen cells and interfered with the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages. AMS also inhibited the primary immune response to trachoma agent antigens and specifically inhibited the production of IgM, IgA and IgG2 (7S γ2) antibodies. |
