Gamma-synuclein binds synaptic vesicles but does not interact with SNARE-complex proteins

The purpose of this study was to determine whether gamma synuclein binds to synaptic vesicles as well as to compare the mechanisms of interaction of alpha and gamma synucleins with synaptic vesicles. The results of this study indicate that gamma synu clein is capable of binding to synaptic vesicles,...

Summary:The purpose of this study was to determine whether gamma synuclein binds to synaptic vesicles as well as to compare the mechanisms of interaction of alpha and gamma synucleins with synaptic vesicles. The results of this study indicate that gamma synu clein is capable of binding to synaptic vesicles, but the mechanism of its interaction with these structures is fundamentally different from the mechanism proposed for alpha synuclein.
