Summary:A review of the steps taken to establish an international virtual laboratory (VL) at the NASA Langley Research Center for aerodynamic prediction and comparison of flight data in the post-09/11/2001 cyber-terrorist environment is detailed here. The key features of the VL include an intuitive, web-based user interface for ease of access, a secure high-speed Internet connection between browser and server, a relational database architecture for data and information search, and a secure file-storage system. The detailed planning and handling of such issues as security, computer firewall access and legal protection of data are provided.
