Ten terpenoid indole alkaloids were isolated from stems of Mappianthus iodoides Hand.-Mazz. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including 1D, 2D NMR and MS methods. Absolute configurations of two of these were assigned from their CD spectra. •Ten terpenoid indole alkaloids were isolated from stems of Mappianthus iodoides Hand.-Mazz.•Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including 1D, 2D NMR and MS methods.•The absolute configurations of two compounds were determined from their CD spectra.•A biogenetic pathway to the indole alkaloids is postulated. Ten terpenoid indole alkaloids, mappiodines A–C and mappiodosides A–G, together with eight known compounds, were isolated from stems of Mappianthus iodoides Hand.-Mazz. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including 1D, 2D NMR, MS and CD methods. The ten compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity, but were inactive.
