Summary: | An alternative photovoltaic powered communication system is proposed to replace the conventional system of loading and unloading signals on 400 kV transmission lines using expensive current transformers. A battery charge–discharge controller from photovoltaic sources is described, which operates from a 12 V array to power VHF or optical fibre repeaters. The system given here can also operate as a stand alone unit. |
