Summary:It is suggested to combine the photometric determination of phenol in the form of indophenol, with preliminary concentration of impurities by directed crystallization of water. Peculiarities of such a preconcentration are considered. The influence of total concentration of soluble salts in water on segregation of phenol and other impurities, in the process of directed crystallization is established. The proposed crystallization–photometric technique allows to determine phenol on the level of maximum permissible concentrations for chlorinated water (0.001 mg/l).
