Optical guided modes in sandwiches with ultrathin metallic films

Wave propagation in magneto–optical media is analyzed on the basis of eigenmode waves. Three basic configurations for magneto-optical effects are studied. In the transversal geometry the guided mode condition in sandwiches can be divided into s- and p-polarized waves. For longitudinal and polar conf...

Summary:Wave propagation in magneto–optical media is analyzed on the basis of eigenmode waves. Three basic configurations for magneto-optical effects are studied. In the transversal geometry the guided mode condition in sandwiches can be divided into s- and p-polarized waves. For longitudinal and polar configurations the waveguiding is composed of circular-like polarized eigenmodes.
