Summary:The magnetization process of bistable amorphous wires and microwires occurs by a single Barkhausen jump that is ascribed to the propagation of a domain wall along the wire. Recent results on wall propagation are here introduced for both kind of wires. Two experiments are performed based on the classical Sixtus–Tonks method, exciting by alternate homogeneous field and locally under a static field. Velocity and damping characteristics of the propagation wall are obtained.
