Demonstration of an all-optical Fredkin gate

We demonstrate experimentally an all-optical Fredkin gate that allows the implementation of reversible optical logic. The gate is formed by a semiconductor optical amplifier based nonlinear loop mirror and operates with switching energies of ∼100 fJ.
