Summary:The interception of a maneuverable target is considered using a linearized kinematical model with first-order acceleration dynamics. This study concentrates on control strategies, based on the solution of a linear-quadratic differential game with cheap controls, guaranteeing capture without exceeding some prescribed (physical) limits. The conditions for a nontrivial capture zone are derived. Detailed description of these capture zones is obtained in the space of the problem parameters.
