Primary pulmonary hypertension after portocaval shunt

Pulmonary hypertension is a rare association of portal hypertension, although its etiology is unclear. We report the development of severe "primary" pulmonary hypertension after an end-to-side portacaval shunt in a woman with postnecrotic cirrhosis.
