Summary:A paraplegic patient in their 50s was admitted to our emergency department with abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. On physical examination, there was a markedly distended abdomen with diffuse tenderness and hard stool on the rectal examination. Laboratory tests revealed an elevation of white blood cell count (12.4 103 per cubic millimeter). Plain abdominal radiography showed dilatation of the large bowel. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) was performed to determine the cause of colonic dilatation
