Variation of the metabolites of Chromodoris funerea: comparison of specimens from a palauan marine lake with those from adjacent waters

1. 1. Five sesterterpenes, 12- epi-scalarin (1), deoxoscalarin (2), luffariellin-C (3), luffariellin-D (4) and a “ketodeoxoscalarin” (9) were isolated from eight specimens of Chromodoris funerea collected at Kaibakku Lake, Palau. 2. 2. Comparison of the metabolite content of these specimens with met...

Summary:1. 2. 2. Comparison of the metabolite content of these specimens with metabolites of C. funerea collected in Iwayama Bay supports the hypothesis that the nudibranch can distinguish allelochemicals from other metabolites and that it is not dependent on a specific sponge diet. 3. 3. The bold numbers above refer to the structural diagrams in the figures.
